Easter eggs inspiration
A photography exercise with quail eggs turned into my favourite creative little project of this month (so far).
I remember seeing quail eggs in supermarket years ago, when I lived in Birmingham and had no interest in food photography.
A while back I started noticing the chocolate mini eggs in stores, and thought about baking something with them, so I grabbed a bag and threw it in the shopping cart. A few hours later, having obliterated every single one of them (not by baking with them, thank you very much!) I found myself thinking of tiny, beautiful quail eggs. A day later, our food supplier delivered a small box of them to our coffee shop.
Fast forward to the day before I was due to travel abroad for 2 weeks and had A LOT of work to wrap up before starting to pack my bags, I came across them in the fridge and set to ‘work’. By that, I mean grab them and run upstairs to grab my camera and take a few photos whilst my husband took over the brunch preparations. I spent 15 minutes with them before they ended up an omelette, but their memory shall live on in this mini shoot.
I am now looking forward to having a few on the Easter table, in a nest of dry moss and lichens. Since I am unsure whether I’ll be able to source any, or have the patience to take pictures on Easter Sunday, I am leaving you with these image, captured in a fleeting moment of inspiration. Hope you enjoy them! :)
